About the Artist

I am an American Multidisciplinary Artist recognized for my graphite portraits and vibrant sports art. I primarily make art that is based in realism and focuses on the beauty of the human form.

My art journey is filled with stops, starts, twists, turns, roadblocks, and, most significantly, a fear of failure.

In my early years, I was influenced by the idea of heroes. And I found my first heroes in comic books and later on in the sports world. In the art world, Chuck Close’s work blew my mind as a teenager and for years the goal of achieving photo-realism is what drove me. I nurtured dreams of becoming a sports artist. 

As a first-generation college student and accomplished scholar-athlete in football, I obtained degrees in Graphic Design from Hutchinson Community College in Kansas and Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. Initially attracted to Graphic Design for its blend of artistic expression and financial stability, I eventually realized that my creative calling sought a broader canvas.

But before I would heed that call, I found myself caught in the ebb and flow of life. The pursuit of artistic fulfillment often took a backseat as I navigated the demands of a nine-to-five job. Along the way I became a Quality Inspector in the aerospace industry. I earned a Master's Degree in Management and Leadership from Friends University in Kansas, and embraced the role of husband, to my wife Holly. 

Yet, the artist within me persisted. Over 28 years, I continued to refine my craft, supplementing my income with portrait commissions and exploring various artistic mediums. However, the undeniable call of true creative freedom grew louder. With Holly's unwavering support, I made the life-altering choice to bid farewell to the comfort, security and stability of my day job, opting instead to fully embrace my artistic dreams.

Now, I stand at the crossroads of oil paints, graphite, clay, and digital mediums, refusing to confine myself to a singular artistic expression. My steadfast commitment to creative exploration stems from a deep understanding that true artistic fulfillment transcends the limitations of a single medium.

With each brushstroke, pencil mark, manipulation of clay or pixel added I aspire to create art that not only resonates with my own soul but also possesses the power to inspire others. As I continue to evolve as a Multidisciplinary Artist, my journey serves as a testament to the transformative potential embedded in the pursuit of one's artistic passions.
